SCOTT CITY -- Scott City Highs football team will have to wait a few days before going after its fifth win of the season.Friday night's scheduled game between the Rams and visiting Caruthersville was postponed as several banks of lights at Scott City's field would not come on.Despite the efforts of AmerenUE workers, the power could not be restored and the game was rescheduled for Monday at 5:30 p.m. in Scott City. The Rams are 4-1 and have won four straight games. Caruthersville is 1-4.St. Vincent 24, St. Pius 0FESTUS -- Although St. Vincent got off to a slow start, the Indians' Cory Strattman lit an offensive fire that resulted in 24 unanswered third-quarter points.Strattman returned a kickoff at the beginning of the third quarter for a 75-yard touchdown run."It was 0-0 at halftime, and I told the kids we needed to do something in the second half," said St. Vincent coach Paul Sauer, who saw his team improve to 5-1. "We got some great blocking and Cory made a nice run; the momentum carried through the whole third quarter."That momentum was evident as quarterback Jonathon Paulus tossed a 6-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Ryan Prost at the 8:02 mark of the third quarter. Derek Kutz added the PAT for a 14-0 lead.St. Vincent's next possession netted a 31-yard field goal by Kutz with 4:37 left in the third quarter. Capping off the third-quarter scoring, with only 2.8 seconds left in the third quarter, Paulus capped the quarter with a 1-yard touchdown with 2.8 seconds left. Kutz's kick upped the lead to 24-0."If someone would have told me we would have shut them out," said Sauer, "I would never have believed them. If we can beat Grandview, it will be a three way tie between us, St. Pius and Herculaneum (in the Jefferson County Conference Small Division)."Fredericktown 41, Potosi 20FREDERICKTOWN -- The Black Cats, shooting for their first winning season since 1983, took another step in that direction by mauling Potosi.Fredericktown is 4-2 overall and 4-1 in Mineral Area Activities Association play."We're happy so far with our season, but we also realize we're getting ready to play North County," said Fredericktown coach Kent Gibbs of next week's opponent, the state's second-ranked Class 4A team.
