To the parents and supporters of the Oran I 11- and 12-year-old baseball team, congratulations on finishing second in the league tournament. It was a job well done.

To the person who made the statement, "It's going to be 10 against eight from here on, boys," please read the Babe Ruth League Inc. rule book.

I believe Mr. Campbell is an excellent coach who does an excellent job with our youth. He did what any coach would have done by questioning the call of the umpire, accepting the call after the explanation and showing excellent sportsmanship.

I am a parent, and one thing I do not want our youth to believe is that when a team loses, they lose because of the umpire, and when they win, they win in spite of the umpire's bad calls.

Remember, sports is a seasonal thing, but a personality lasts a lifetime.MARCUS SCHAEFER
