Letter to the editor 11/24/02

To the editor:

We have been season ticket-holders and boosters of Southeast basketball for more than 20 years and have seen many fine young people not only play ball but be role models in the community. After a recent exhibition game, I decided to get a poster signed by the players.

It was so great to witness the kindness, politeness and eagerness of the young players toward the fans. This speaks well of their leadership. I was especially blessed by what Derek Winans had the courage to add to his signature: Matt 6:33. It's evident that he does seek God's kingdom by the way he lives his life. He is truly a role model for all our young people to follow, and this world has such a desperate need for good role models.

I urge all Southeast fans to get out and support these fine young men this year. They deserve our support.CAROLYN PICKENS
