Leopold closed a stellar regular season in impressive fashion Thursday night, sweeping host Notre Dame 15-7, 15-2 in high school volleyball action.

Leopold, which opens Class 1A district play on Monday, improved to 22-3-1 on the season.

"The girls really came together as a team and played well," said Leopold coach Leanne Huffman. "And that's what we should be doing right now."

Huffman said she was surprised with the ease of the victory over Notre Dame, which fell to 23-8-1.

"I don't think they played as well as they can," said Huffman. "We played well, but they helped us out."

Holly Jansen led Leopold with nine kills and 11 digs. Lori Vandermierden added six kills and 11 digs, while Kyla Horrell had three kills and seven digs. Wendy Vandeven finished with 14 assists.

Notre Dame won the JV match 15-8, 10-15, 15-8.

BELL CITY 15-15, ORAN 1-4

BELL CITY, Mo. -- Bell City notched an impressive 20th win as they rolled past Oran in straight sets.

Katie Spears led the Lady Cubs (20-5-1) with 14 kills and two blocks, while Katie Goodman and Katie Niemczyk notched 12 and 11 service points, respectively. Whitney Abner had 11 assists and a team-high four digs.

Oran (18-9-1) was paced by Maria Eftink with four kills and one block. Ashley Dirnberger had three digs.

Bell City's JV (21-3), also enjoying a fine season, defeated Oran 15-6, 15-0.

MEADOW HEIGHTS 12-15-15

ST. VINCENT 15-10-4

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Meadow Heights (25-4) bounced back from a first-set loss to deny St. Vincent's upset bid.

Leading the Lady Panthers were Holly Boyd (12 kills, 12 digs), Ashley Brune (10 kills, 12 digs), Tessa Bollinger (seven kills, two aces), Hanna James (six kills, 16 digs) and Jami Fulton (25 assists).

St. Vincent (10-18-1) was paced by Beth Hennemann (seven kills, 11 digs), Chelsey Brown (seven kills), Allison Prost (three kills, 17 digs) and Dani Emmendorfer with 21 assists.

Meadow Heights JV needed three sets for the win, also, 15-10, 12-15, and 15-11.

JACKSON 15-11-15

POPLAR BLUFF 12-15-3

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- The Lady Indians (19-10-1) finished the regular season on a high note with a three-set win over the Lady Mules.

Jackson statistical leaders were Jennifer Mesey (16 kills, 10 kills), Jenna Leet (14 kills), Jessie Koeper (six kills, 12 digs), Linden Hahs (six kills, 10 digs), Kacie Crites (two kills, 10 blocks) and Erin Hartmann (five kills, 40 assists).

Jackson's JV (22-5-3) knocked off Poplar Bluff 15-5, 15-8.

BERNIE 15-14-15

ADVANCE 10-16-0

ADVANCE, Mo. -- Advance, even after two sets, suffered a devastating third-set shutout loss to fall to Bernie.

The Lady Hornets (10-16-2) were led by Dana Williams with eight kills and three blocks, while Kaci Cooper served three aces.

SOCCER Cape Central JV Tournament

Notre Dame scored in the first minute of play and held on for a 1-0 victory over the host Tigers in the championship game of the Cape Central JV Tournament.

Moments after the start of the game, Bryce Willen deposited a centering pass from Blake Urhahn. Brendan McNeel recorded the shutout in goal for Notre Dame (10-3-4).
