The Leopold boys basketball team opened its season Tuesday night with a 31-point road victory, defeating Meadow Heights 79-48.
Leading 36-32 at halftime, Leopold broke the game open with a 19-0 scoring advantage in the third quarter.
Darren VanGennip scored a game-high 26 points for the Wildcats, while Dustin Thiele had 15, Larry Nussbaum had 11 and Wade Wiseman had 10.
Sophomore Dustin Hubler scored a team-high 11 points for Meadow Heights before he lost several teeth in a collision early in the second quarter.
