Lady Tiger coach Mark Ruark had concerns about whether his team could bounce back from a tough overtime loss to Cape Girardeau County rival Jackson.

The Lady Tigers laid to rest any such worries early as they shut down the Lady Bulldogs in a 58-20 victory Monday night.

Cape Central was buoyed by the unexpected return Katie Daugherty, the newest member of the Tiger 1,000 point club who had dislocated a shoulder during the Jackson game.

Playing with a high level of defensive intensity throughout, Cape Central held Sikeston to single-digit scoring in each quarter as it improved to 14-9..

Sarah Hyslop led the Lady Tigers with 15 points, while Heather Jenkins turned in her best performance since an injury in early January with 13 points. Jenkins scored 11 of her points in the third quarter.

Farmington 52, Jackson 42

FARMINGTON, Mo. -- The Lady Indians, with leading scorer Andrea Koeper playing but still feeling the effects of mononucleosis, fell to Farmington.

Jackson (15-6), after splitting the season series (1-1) with Farmington, will not have to wait long for a rematch. The two teams will meet in the first round of district play next week.

Jackson and Farmington played to a 22-22 tie at the halfway mark before the Knightettes' Lisa Boyd exploded for 14 of her game-high 20 points in the second half.

Jenna Leet paced the Lady Indians with 11 points, while Koeper was held to six.

"We had good looks, but we just didn't shoot the ball well all night," said Jackson coach Ron Cook.

St. Vincent 42, Oran 40

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Danielle Sutterer hit a short jumper in the lane with about 10 seconds left to break a 40-40 tie and give St. Vincent the win.

St. Vincent, in an uphill battle all night, trailed 34-28 at the end of the third period.

A combination of increased defensive pressure and Oran's cold shooting allowed St. Vincent to outscore the Lady Eagles 14-6 in the final quarter.

Sutterer led St. Vincent (9-11) with 14 points and Danielle Schremp added 10.

Ashley Dirnberger paced Oran with 14 points

Delta 67, Greenville 46

DELTA, Mo. -- The inside-outside tandem of Rebecca Below and Rebecca Cook combined for 50 points to lead the Lady Bobcats to victory.

Below collected a game-high 29 points while Cook recorded a double-double with 21 points and 10 assists.

At the half, Delta (12-8) held a 32-24 advantage over Greenville. The Lady Bobcats outscored Greenville 35-22 in the second half.

Perryville 66

Fredericktown 43

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Perryville used a strong rebounding effort as it posted a 23-point victory.

"I think that was the difference in the game," said Perryville coach Vickie Lohmann.

The Lady Pirates pulled down a total of 53 rebounds with Jamie Amberger leading the way with 19. Amberger also had a team-high 22 points.

Stacy Baer added 16 points and Brooke Winkler netted 12.

Nikki Tucker tallied a game-high 26 points for Fredericktown but was the team's lone double-digit scorer.

Perryville (14-9) took a 23-15 lead into the second quarter and led 36-26 at halftime. The Lady Pirates held a commanding 54-36 lead after three periods.

Scott City 58

Portageville 28

PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. -- Scott City outscored Portageville in each quarter as it cruised to a 30-point victory.

Loren Groves led the offense for Scott City (14-7) with 25 points and Rachel Spinks had 16.

Scott City built a 25-12 lead by halftime and outscored Portageville 33-16 in the second half.

Kelly 81, Scott Central 26

MORLEY, Mo. -- Marissa Essner, 24 points, led a trio of Lady Hawks who finished with at least 18 points as Kelly rolled to victory.

Ashley Payne added 19 points and Bridgett Riley finished with 18.

Kelly (19-3) bolted out to a 31-7 lead in the first quarter and led 50-12 at halftime.

Charleston 63, Chaffee 41

CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Monisha Murray netted 22 points and Alicia Rodgers added 16 as Charleston improved to 17-4 on the season.

Jennifer Vandeven tallied a game-high 25 points but was the only Chaffee player to finish with more than six points.

Charleston took a comfortable 19-5 lead in the opening eight minutes and led 27-13 at halftime. The advantage grew to over 20 points in the third quarter, which ended with the Lady Bluejays leading 50-28.

BOYS BASKETBALL

St. Vincent 72

Fredericktown 69

FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- With a three-point lead and 10 seconds left, the Indians held their collective breaths as Fredericktown misfired on three consecutive 3-pointers.

Despite jumping out to a 16-2 first-quarter lead, St. Vincent (14-6) had to battle to the wire for the win.

By halftime, the Blackcats had rallied to take a 37-36 lead.

Fredericktown increased the margin to six by the end of the third stanza, leading 59-53.

With the lead changing back-and-forth in the fourth period, the Indians fought their way to the final lead with :10 on the clock.

St. Vincent shot 21 of 26 from the free-throw line on the night.

St. Vincent had nice scoring balance with four players in double figures. Tyler Wengert led with 22 points, while Adam Bockman tallied 16. Mark Gotto and Nathan Brown added 10 apiece.

John Page paced Fredericktown with 16 points, followed by Justin Hall and Dusty Merrill with 15 and 14, respectively.
