ST. LOUIS -- Cape Central's tennis team won both of its matches against Parkway Central and Parkway West Saturday afternoon to win the Parkway Quad Tournament for the first time in school history.
Cape downed Parkway Central 5-4 and Parkway West 9-0 to up their record to 9-0 in dual matches.
"The girls must be getting more experienced, they seemed to battle through the tie-breakers and came out on top rather than losing, like they've done in the past," said Cape Central coach Annette Slattery.
In the other matches, Charleston defeated Parkway West 6-3, but lost to Parkway Central 4-5.

SOFTBALL
Vienna 7, Cape Central 3
VIENNA -- Cape Central fell to .500 on the season with a loss to Vienna.
Losing pitcher Casi Gross gave up five runs and eight hits, while striking out two and walking one in five innings.
Coach Amy Blattel said her team played well defensively.
"Casi threw a good game, but they (Vienna) just hit the ball well," said Blattel.
For Cape Central (11-11), Dionna Webb went 3-for-4, Ashley Foutch went 4-for-4 and Jessica McDonald went 2-for-3.
Central dropped the JV game 7-1. Holly Schnurbusch took the loss.
St. Vincent splits four games
FESTUS -- St. Vincent's softball team split four games Saturday in the Jefferson County Conference Tournament.
The Squaws (15-5) suffered a 10-5 loss to Windsor and a 6-3 loss to Perryville, then rebounded to beat De Soto 12-1 and Herculaneum 3-2.
The highlight of the day, St. Vincent coach John Lambert said, was St. Vincent's game against Perryville.
Despite the loss to the Lady Pirates, Lambert said the game that was pitched by Stephanie Brown was the best game St. Vincent had played all year. Perryville beat St. Vincent 17-1 earlier this season.
Jessica Kirn had the decisions in every game other than the Perryville game.
SOCCER
Central loses tie-breaker
JEFFERSON CITY -- Cape Central tied for first place in its pool at the Jefferson City Soccer Tournament, but Waynesville was awarded first on a tie-breaker.
The Tigers finished the two-day tournament with a 2-0-1 record. After defeating Springfield-Greenwood Friday, Cape Central played Waynesville to a 1-1 tie before defeating Mexico 5-0.
Against Waynesville, Cape Central (8-5-1) fell behind 1-0 30 seconds into the second half. However, the Tigers' Brett McNabb knotted the game 1-1 just three minutes later on a penalty kick.
The Tigers had an easier time with Mexico. McNabb scored eight minutes into the game and Chris Cole closed out the first-half scoring with a goal at the 24-minute mark.
Second-half goals were added by Arthur Pilsner, McNabb and Mick Metzger.
Westminster Christian Academy 1, Notre Dame 0
ST. LOUIS -- Soccer players wear cleats, but Saturday the Notre Dame Bulldogs could've used some horse shoes.
"We were pretty unlucky," said Notre Dame coach Brad Wittenborn after his Bulldogs suffered a loss to Westminster Christian Academy.
Notre Dame outshot Westminster 23-10, but still suffered its second loss of the season, dropping to 9-2 on the season.
"We created more scoring chances than they did," Wittenborn said. "They only had one or two good scoring chances and one was a pretty bad breakdown. Their goalie made three or four diving saves. I thought we played better than they did, but we just couldn't get it in the goal."
Notre Dame's junior varsity also lost 1-0 despite limiting Westminster to just two shots on goal.
The Bulldogs play Tuesday at Farmington. Due to a schedule change, Notre Dame will host Jackson on Wednesday. The game was originally scheduled for Thursday.
FOOTBALL
Farmington 41, Fredericktown 13
FREDERICKTOWN -- The Fredericktown Black Cats slipped to 2-2 on the season after losing to Farmington Saturday.
The game was decided in the first half after the Knights rolled up a 35-0 advantage in the first two quarters.
"They're a 4A school and they have a really good football team," Fredericktown coach Kent Gibbs said. "We knew we'd have to do some things early and move the ball. We couldn't do that today. We played pretty well in the first quarter. In the second quarter we couldn't do anything offensively and they really took advantage of it."
Rusty Leonard was Fredericktown's leading rusher with 73 yards on eight carries.
Clay Hendrix and Aaron Proffer scored Fredericktown's touchdowns.
Farmington posted 358 yards of total offense compared to the Black Cats' 201.
Fredericktown, which won its first game over Ste. Genevieve since 1983, will try to get back on track next week when it hosts Valley of Ste. Genevieve.

The extra point was all that was needed to keep Cape undefeated at 2-0-1.
