The Cape Girardeau Central High girls soccer team continued its dominating season Thursday with a 4-0 victory over visiting Perryville.
Central improved its record to 10-0-1. The Lady Tigers have recorded 10 shutouts -- all by goalie Amy Harris -- and have allowed only one goal all season.
"The girls are doing a really good job," said Central coach Tom Doyle. "We didn't start off as aggressive as we should have against Perryville, but then we stepped it up and started to get after it a little bit."
Amber Voerg and Kim Aslinger scored first-half goals as the Lady Tigers held a 2-0 halftime lead. Lori Bittle and Jennifer Daume scored in the second half.
Aslinger, Erica McDonald, Mindy Hoffman and Melissa Altenthal all had assists.
Central's JV also prevailed by a 4-0 count.
The Lady Tigers will face city rival Notre Dame Tuesday.
Jackson 3, Poplar Bluff 2
JACKSON -- Jackson continued its strong season Thursday with an exciting victory at home.
The Lady Indians, now 9-2, got a second-half goal from Dana Eakins on a free kick that broke a 2-2 tie.
Sarah Schlick and Eakins had scored first-half goals, with Amanda Beussink getting an assist.
"It was a really good game," said Jackson coach Bonnie Knowlan. "I was proud of the girls. We played well."
The JV game ended in a 1-1 tie, Lacy Hodo scoring for Jackson.
Jackson will host Hillsboro Monday.
Carbondale 6, Notre Dame 2
A high-powered Carbondale team sent Notre Dame to a lopsided home loss Thursday.
"They have a lot of skill," said Notre Dame coach Jeff Worley of the Illinois squad. "They do a great job of moving the ball around and we had a lot of trouble matching up with them."
Notre Dame (4-8-1) got goals from Jaymie Frank and Jill Edwards. Michelle Hency and Cyndi Cox had assists.
The Lady Bulldogs visit West Plains Saturday.
SOFTBALL
Notre Dame 9, Shawnee 2
Notre Dame evened its record at 4-4 Thursday with a comfortable victory over visiting Shawnee, Ill.
Jill Huber allowed Shawnee just three hits and single runs in the second and fifth innings. Huber struck out four and walked two.
Notre Dame scored two runs in both the second and fourth innings for a 4-1 lead. After Shawnee closed the gap to 4-2, Notre Dame scored five unanswered runs.
Huber also had three of Notre Dame's eight hits and drove in four runs. Bonnie Essner added a pair of hits.
BASEBALL
Herculaneum 13, St. Vincent 11
PERRYVILLE -- In a wild game, St. Vincent suffered a home-field defeat Thursday.
The Indians fell to 6-6 overall and 2-4 in Jefferson County Conference play.
Herculaneum led 12-0 after the top of the fourth inning before a big St. Vincent rally fell just short. The Indians scored twice in the seventh inning and had the tying run on second base when the game ended.
Dusty Wengert went 4-for-4 with three RBIs to pace the Indians. Pat Brown and Gabe Hotop both had two hits.
Wengert pitched the first five innings and suffered the loss. Bryan Meyer closed with two scoreless frames.
St. Vincent will compete in Saturday's Oak Ridge Tournament, facing Delta at 10:30 a.m. after Oak Ridge and Marquand play at 9 a.m. The finals are set for 1:30.
Oran 7, Woodland 1
ORAN -- Dustin Glastetter pitched a complete game as Oran improved to 8-2 with a victory at home Thursday.
Glastetter allowed seven hits and no walks while fanning eight.
The Class 1A Eagles, whose two losses have been to 4A schools Poplar Bluff and Sikeston, had 10 hits. Justin Wierman led the way with three hits while Travis Friga added two.
Advance 17, Bell City 2
BELL CITY -- Advance had 15 hits and belted three home runs during a five-inning, run-rule romp Thursday.
Chris Wallace pitched all five innings, allowing five hits.
Wallace also led the 6-2 Hornets offensively by going 4-for-4 with two home runs (one a grand slam) and six RBIs.
Allen Stevens went 3-for-3 with a homer and four RBIs, Adam Rainey was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and Daren Roper homered.
The Hornets play at Delta today.
JV BASEBALL
Central 15, Jackson 4
Cape Central's JV is now 11-1 after Thursday's six-inning win.
Josh McIntosh was the winning pitcher and he also went 4-for-5 with a homer. Dusty Barrows and Zach Fidler both added three hits.
Central also won a freshman game from Jackson 15-12 in eight innings. John Snider got the win. Ricky Ogles had four hits and Justin Welker homered.
GOLF
Central wins triangular
Cape Central won an exciting triangular meet Thursday, shooting a 164 to knock off Poplar Bluff (168) and Notre Dame (169) at the Cape Girardeau Country Club.
"It was a good match," said Central coach Dick Wadlington. "Any time you have three teams within five strokes of each other, it's anybody's match."
Danny Groesbeck had an exceptional round for the Tigers, earning medalist honors with a 1-over-par 36.
Other scores for Central were Bryan Welker 42, Jeff Haycraft 43, Mike Oslund 43 and Kent Phillips 43.
For Notre Dame, scores were Matt Howard 41, John Brey 42, Chris Koeper 43 and Nick Martin 43.
Poplar Bluff was paced by Eric Summers' 38.
BOYS TENNIS
Cape Central 6, Carbondale 3
Central improved to 7-3 by downing the visitors from Illinois Thursday.
The Tigers won five of six singles matches to nail down the victory.
Central's JV prevailed 3-1.
The Tigers will return to action Saturday in the Poplar Bluff Tournament.

TRACK & FIELD
Jackson girls fourth
STE. GENEVIEVE -- Jackson's girls placed fourth in Thursday's 12-team Ste. Genevieve Invitational.
North County won with 87 points, followed by Hillsboro (77), Festus (69), Jackson (62) and Ste. Genevieve (58).
The Lady Indians had one first-place performance, in the 800-meter relay, as the team of Megan Kuntze, Brandi Majka, Lindsey Walker and Lindsey Meyr clocked 1:50.4.
That same group was second in the 400 relay (52.2).
Jennifer Love was third in the 100 hurdles (17.3) and 300 hurdles (50.5) while Sarah Stiegemeyer placed third in the 1,600 (5:43).
Two other relay teams were third, the 3,200 group of Lisa Sappington, Stiegemeyer, Christy Thoma and Jodie Brunke (10:16) and the 1,600 squad of Holly Collier, Kuntze, Annie Stoverink and Walker (4:20).
Central Jr. High
Cape Central's eighth grade girls won a four-team meet at Farmington Thursday, scoring 112 points to 60.5 for Farmington.
Central had three double individual winners: Sylvia Austin in the 100 and long jump; Kim Pancoast in the 400 and 1,600; and Tara Herzberger in the shot put and discus.
Other Central winners were Abbie Cain in the 200, Lanie Bohnsack in the high jump and three relay teams: the 400 of Austin, Mica Conrad, Casie Frazier and Lauren Lee; the 800 or Cameron Bennett, Conrad, Lee and Frazier; and 1,600 of Pancoast, Amy Brookover, Lexi House and Bohnsack.
Central's ninth grade boys, competing in a relay meet in Sikeston, got wins in the discus (Otis Turner, Eric Niswonger, Brad Neels) and the 100 hurdles (Turner, Brian Emmendorfer, Ryan Sides, Michael Cox).
