ELLSINORE — The East Carter Lady Redbirds had three players score in double figures as they rolled past Ozark Foothills Conference rival Twin Rivers 74-24 Monday night.
Brooklyn Kearbey led East Carter with 19 points, while Breanna Dohleman followed behind with 16 and Parker Golden finished with 13.
“I think we’re starting to play out of the slump we were in,” East Carter head coach Angela Rodgers after the game. “We shared the ball well tonight and tried to increase the intensity of our defense. Hopefully we can carry this momentum into Thursday against Neelyville.”
Reese Crismon led Twin Rivers with nine points.
Naylor 73, Clearwater 23
At Naylor, the host Lady Eagles routed the Clearwater Lady Tigers.
Chloe Mitchell led Naylor with 30 points, one of her highest scoring games all season, while Harley Sullivan added 23.
“For us it’s all about how much effort we are willing to put in,” Naylor head coach Logan Foster said aftewards. “Overall tonight, we played pretty hard. We got into some foul trouble during the second quarterbut after halftime we were able to put pressure on the ball. That led to some easy buckets. I was proud of my team tonight.”
Woodland 51, Puxico 33
At Puxico, the Lady Indians fell to Woodland.
Laney Parker (16 points) and Adi Denny (10) led Puxico in the loss.
“We played well in the first half rebounded and shot it well,” Puxico head coach Trent Copling said. “The second half was a different story. They beat us on the boards and had way too many turnovers. They upped their pressure and we didn’t handle it well.”
Lesterville 73, Greenville 52
At Greenville, the Lady Bears fell to Lesterville.
Jenna Marler (18 points) and Ashlynn West (14) were the top scorers for Greenville.
“We played hard but turned the ball over too much. That killed any momentum that we would
get during the game,” said Greenville head coach Chris Hahn.
Van Buren 60, Summersville 9
In Oregon County, the Van Buren Lady Dawgs rolled past Summersville in their Big Springs Conference Tournament opener.
“We played pretty well tonight,” said Van Buren girls head coach Torrie Ricker. “The girls
worked hard defensively and we were really just excited to get back on the court.”
The Lady Dawgs advance to play Bunker on Thursday night in the semifinals.
