TRENTON, Mo. — The Three Rivers College softball team overcame a loss Friday to win three in a row and take a four-game series over the weekend at North Central Missouri College.
After dropping the first game of a doubleheader last Friday 5-3, the Lady Raiders bounced back and won the nightcap 16-7 in five innings. TRC followed that up the next day by sweeping a twin bill from the host Lady Pirates, taking the opener 5-1 and the second game 10-4.
In Friday’s opener, North Central scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to overcome a 3-2 deficit and pull out the win.
The Lady Raiders scored a run in the top of the sixth to take the lead, but North Central rallied in the bottom of the inning to retake the lead — and ultimately the win.
Audrey Rahlmann and Josie Bezzole each had a pair of hits for Three Rivers, while A.J. Agers pitched sound in defeat, allowing seven hits, three earned runs, and three walks while striking out three.
It was a different story in the nightcap, as the Lady Raiders scored eight runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back.
TRC pounded out 16 hits in the contest, led by three apiece from Agers, Kyla Puckett and Alyssa Bastien, while Natalee Moore and Lexi Davis each had a pair. Puckett and Bastien both homered and drove in six and five runs, respectively.
Elly Eckrich earned the win, allowing five hits, two earned runs and three walks in five innings of work while striking out five.
The Lady Raiders got off to a fast start in Saturday’s opener as well, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning and never trailing.
Davis had a pair of hits, drove in two runs and homered to lead the offense, while Agers added a solo home run.
Agers also earned the win in the circle, allowing one run, three walks and six hits while striking out two.
Yet another fast start helped TRC take the second game Saturday and earn the doubleheader sweep.
Three Rivers scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning to go up 7-0, then added another three in the bottom of the fourth after North Central cut the lead to 7-4.
Davis homered twice and drove in four runs, while AnnMarie Simpson, Alaney and Natalee Moore each had two hits. Natalee Moore also homered and drove in three runs.
Eckrich earned the win, allowing four hits, four walks and one earned run while striking out eight in a complete-game victory.
The Lady Raiders next host St. Charles for a Tuesday afternoon doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
