JACKSON -- Jackson's girls pounced on visiting North County 27-0 in the first quarter of Thursday's game and cruised to a 59-35 victory in high school basketball action.
Jackson (21-2) was able to quickly clear the bench, but with the Lady Indians closing in on the postseason, that may not be totally desirable, coach Ron Cook said.
Jackson's Melissa Palmer had a game-high 20 points and Christa Millham added 17. Rebecca Thurston led North County with 19 points.
Scott City 69, Oran 37
SCOTT CITY -- Amy O'Brien and Jessica Dees made the most of the final home appearance of their careers as Scott City emerged victorious on Senior Night.
O'Brien scored a game-high 20 points, had nine steals, seven assists and a team-high seven rebounds. Dees netted 19 points in her farewell game.
Scott City improved to 16-5 with the win.
Sara Heisserer paced Oran with 14 points and Lindi Prindle added 12.
Scott City took a 14-10 lead into the second quarter and extended its advantage to 32-17 by halftime.
Scott City will visit Valle of St. Genevieve on Monday.
Perryville 52, Charleston 29
CHARLESTON -- Perryville won its 20th game this season against Charleston on Thursday.
Perryville (20-6) outscored Charleston 40-17 in the first, third and fourth quarters.
Perryville's Laura Ernst had 15 points and April Watts added 12.
Scott Central 78, Chaffee 45
CHAFFEE -- Scott County Central led 19-7 after one quarter and 41-19 at halftime in its win over host Chaffee on Thursday.
Central improved to 11-11, dropping Chaffee to 4-16.
Central's Vontrice Blackmon scored a game-high 22 points, Katie Griffen had 16, Tashika Raby 12 and Danika Kidd 10.
For Chaffee, Kate Nolen had 15 and Adria Meyr added 11.
Fredericktown 64, St. Vincent 49
PERRYVILLE -- St. Vincent got off to a slow start Thursday night and never recovered, falling to Fredericktown at home.
Debbie Welker dropped in four 3-pointers for St. Vincent to score a team-high 12 points. Teammate Stephanie Schremp added 10 points as the Squaws fell to 8-14 on the season.
Three Squaws fouled out of the contest as Fredericktown made 22 of 31 free throws.
Wednesday night at home, St. Vincent beat Valle of Ste. Genevieve 39-32. Jessica Lakenan led the Squaws with 13 points.
St. Vincent hosts Scott City on Wednesday.
BOYS BASKETBALL
St. Vincent 60, Herculaneum 57
PERRYVILLE -- Chad Winkler converted a 3-point play with 2.5 seconds to go and stole Herculanuem's ensuing inbounds pass as St. Vincent won on Thursday.
St. Vincent has won three of five games and is now 4-18.
Mike Eggers scored a team-high 18 points for St. Vincent; Winkler had 17 and Trent Sauer added 11.
St. Vincent trailed 16-11 after one quarter, 32-24 at halftime and 42-39 entering the fourth period.
Marquand 57, Greenville 54
MARQUAND -- Trailing 41-35 entering the fourth quarter, Marquand outscored Greenville 22-13 in the period and won on Thursday.
Marquand improved to 16-7, 10-1 since Christmas.
Marquand's Dusty Stephens had a game-high 24 points and Travis Braswell added 18.
