LADY BULLDOGS POST 5-3 WIN OVER BLUFF

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Notre Dame's girls softball team picked up its second win of the season Thursday with a 5-3 victory over Poplar Bluff.

Mika Williamson picked up the win on the mound, allowing five hits in five innings. She struck out one and walked one before yielding to Ramona Blankenship, who pitched the final two innings to pick up the save. Blankenship gave up three hits and also struck out a batter and walked one.

Notre Dame banged out nine hits. Laura Weissmueller and Ashley Reinagel led the charge with two hits apiece while each had an RBI and scored once.

Notre Dame (2-1) broke on top with two runs in the second and added a pair in the third for a 4-0 lead. Bluff trimmed the lead to 4-3 with a run in the bottom of the third and two more in the fifth. The Lady Bulldogs added an insurance run in the seventh.

JACKSON -- The Jackson Lady Indians tennis team opened their season with a dominating shutout victory.

Jackson's junior varsity posted a 13-0 shutout.
