Monday evening the Dexter Lady Bearcats evened their record at 3-3 after rolling past Scott County Central 60-30 at the Bearcat Event Center.

“I felt like we got a lot of kids in tonight, we learned a lot tonight,” said Dexter coach Eric Sitze. “We are trying to work on getting the ball inside. We are trying to work on things we are not doing a very good job at this season. Last game was getting on the dribble hand, getting the penetration stopped. We tried to work on that a little bit better tonight, move our feet better. We are still just trying to fix bad habits and improve every game, that's all we can do right now.”

Klaire Essner and Kate Nichols got Dexter on the board with a bucket each giving the Bearcats a 4-0 lead. Lainey Glueck recorded a basket to cut the lead in half and the Bravettes trailed 4-2. Dexter's Kate Nichols then went on a 7-0 run with a trey and two buckets in the paint. Dexter had a 11-2 lead. Nikki Adams dropped in a basket to cut the lead to 11-4 at the end of the first quarter.

Dexter opened the second quarter with a 7-4 run behind two baskets by Nichols and a three pointer by Essner to take a 18-8 lead.

Mauriona Menley and Abbie Lloyd got on the score sheet with a bucket each to stretch the lead to 22-8. A trey from Nichols gave Dexter a 25-8 lead. Adams broke the run dropping in a free throw for Scott County Central. Dexter then ended the half on a 10-2 run. Lloyd put an exclamation point on the half by draining a half court shot at the buzzer. The Lady Bearcats took a 35-11 lead into the locker room.

The Bravettes were unable to make up the deficit in the second half the Lady Bearcats went on to 60-30 lead.

Sitze spoke about the win building momentum going into the Lady Royals Christmas Classic next week.

“It (the win) helps, every win helps. Again if you are playing hard and doing things right, the wins will come,” Sitze said. “That is where we have to get to to, doing things right. I felt likr the girls effort most of the time is good. But we have got to learn to do things right and games like this, wins like this will help our confidence.”

Nichols recorded a game high 29 points for Dexter, Essner recorded 10 points, Turnbo 8, lloyd 7, Menley 4 and Karis Kennedy 2 points. For Scott County Central Adams had a team high 13 points, Glueck 6 points, Ellie Britt, Camarie Perdue and Reagan Evans each had 3 points and De'Laya Barks had 2 points.

Dexter 3-3 will travel to Sikeston Thursday evening before heading to the Lady Royals Christmas Classic next week at Twin Rvers High School. The Bravettes (3-4) will host Cape Central Wednesday evening before heading to the First State Community Bank Holiday Classic which begins this weekend at Cape Girardeau.
