Southeast Missouri State senior Alaina Lacopo broke Southeast's career assist record in the team's 4-2 win over Eastern Illinois on Friday.
Lacopo finished with one goal and two assists in the victory. Southeast's Margie Schaeffler ended the game with one goal and one assist for the Redhawks, who pushed their record to 5-0 in Ohio Valley Conference play. Courtney Alexander also scored in the win.
"You just know that when you're undefeated, that every team is going out to knock you off," Lacopo said.
The Redhawks jumped out to a 2-1 lead at halftime, and after the Panthers tied the score 2-2 early in the second half, Lacopo and Schaeffler scored to push the team to victory.
Cross country
Juli Koenegstein finished 10th to help the Southeast women's team finish 13th at the Bradley University Classic on Friday. She covered the course in 21 minutes, 34 seconds.
Rounding out the scoring for the Redhawks were Monica Noble (65th, 23:05), Esther Mathias (75th, 23:18), Linnea Woldtvedt (84th, 23:33) and Kasey Owens (89th, 23:39).
The Southeast men's team took eighth behind Brandon Funderburk's 19th-place finish (25:25). Rounding out the scoring for the Redhawks were Brandon Karcher (32nd, 25:47), Dustin Davis (41st, 25:56), Jason Lumpkin (65th, 26:20) and Chris Loseman (75th, 26:44).
Volleyball
Southeast dropped the first game but rallied to win the next three to beat Samford.
Karleigh DeLong put down 18 kills and nabbed 10 digs while sophomore Sarah Barth tallied 51 assists and 17 digs for the Redhawks (11-10, 6-4).
Aubrey Dondlinger recorded a double-double with 15 kills and 18 digs. Claire Keaton also had a double-double with 13 kills and 16 digs in the road win.
Game scores were 23-30, 30-21, 30-21, 30-25.
