The Kohlfeld slow-pitch softball team climbed out of the loser's bracket to win the recent Scott City Tournament.
Kohlfeld lost its opening-round game, 11-4 against Davault.
Kohlfeld began its trek through the loser's bracket with a 12-7 win over JAB Company. Mark Simmons had three hits while Tim Welter, Val Crader, Bruce Robert, Paul Dirnberger and Steve Dirnberger added two apiece.
Next came a 16-5 win over HWI. Simmons had three hits while Sammy Lawson, Welter, Crader, Robert and Scott Hoffman all added two.
Kohlfeld then beat the Scott City Hit Men 16-4. Hoffman had three hits, including two doubles.
Next came an 11-3 victory over old rival Huffman Roofing. Eddie Rhodes had three hits while Lawson and Scott Crader both had two.
Rhodes, P. Dirnberger and Hoffman had three hits during a 17-7 victory over Kelsey's Tavern.
Kohlfeld then blanked arch rival Budweiser 13-0 in five innings, gaining its third win over Bud in three tries this season. Tim Powers and V. Crader both had three hits.
Kohlfeld then had a chance for revenge against Davault, needing two wins for the championship.
First up was a 22-9 win for Kohlfeld. V. Crader had four hits, Rhodes added three and Welter homered.
The second game was a thriller between two teams with a combined five state titles over the past two seasons. Davault jumped ahead 12-1 but Kohlfeld rallied for a 22-17 victory. V. Crader, Simmons, Rhodes and P. Dirnberger all had three hits. Simmons and Lawson both belted two-run homers.
Kohlfeld is now 38-6 on the season.
