To the editor:
As a local baseball coach in this area for the past several years, I have had the opportunity to coach several good athletes and be associated with some very good teams. This past summer has been no exception. The young men on the Post 63 American Legion junior baseball team were a pleasure to coach. Their effort and positive attitude was consistent throughout the entire summer which produced a very good team.
The coaching staff of head coach Steve Dirnberger and assistant coaches Randy Propst and Tatum Kitchen were a treat to work with. Tim Wulfers, the team's general manager, did a lot of the administrative work, which allowed me and the rest of the staff to coach.
Although we wanted to win every game, we never lost perspective of what the game is all about. I feel confident that our players had a very enjoyable and learning experience from this past season.
I would also like to extend my appreciation to Homer Dickmann, John Yallaly and the rest of the Cape Legionnaires for providing the Cape Legion junior team. Again, thanks for allowing me and these young men to be associated with such a fine organization.
