Robinson, who has starred in the minor leagues the past four seasons, was called up by the expansion Tampa Bay Devil Rays late Friday night. He was in uniform but did not play during Tampa Bay games Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

But Tuesday, during an 11-2 loss to the Boston Red Sox, Robinson played left field in the late stages of the game. He went 0-for-1 at the plate.

Robinson batted .302 this year for the Triple A Durham Bulls, Tampa Bay's top minor-league team. He was called up the Devil Rays immediately after the Bulls were eliminated from the American Association playoffs Friday night.
