Kennett Indians overcome season's woes to win 88-31

KENNETT, Mo. -- Dealing with arguably the most adversity they've faced all season, the Kennett Indians turned in a top-grade performance in the face of it.

Just hours after the funeral of senior Rachel Dye, the Tribe took the court and responded in resounding fashion, dominating from tip to buzzer in an 88-31 rout of the Kelly on Tuesday night.

Kennett (10-3) dominated almost from the start, getting 15 straight points from half a dozen players after Kelly's Dustin Crowden scored 14 seconds into the game to give the Hawks their only lead of the night.

Trent Felter's basket with 2:55 left in the opening period briefly stopped the bleeding, but Kennett closed the period on a 16-4 run to take a 31-8 lead into the second quarter.

The Tribe were even more dominant in the second quarter, holding Kelly without a field goal while scoring almost at will to go to the locker room with a 63-11 lead.

Kennett did not let up in the second half, pushing the lead as large as 61 points in the fourth quarter while substituting liberally.

Crowden paced the Hawks with 10 points.
