BENTON, Mo. -- Kelly High School standout distance runner Adam Daughhetee recently signed a letter of intent to run track and cross country at Southeast Missouri State University.
Daughhetee, a senior, is a two-time state champion in the 1,600-meter run. He has also received all-state honors in the 3,200-meters, and as a member of the 4 x 800 meter relay team.
"We're extremely happy to sign Adam," said Southeast track coach Joey Haines. "He's had a tremendous track career at Kelly so far, and we feel he's going to make an outstanding runner for us. Along with being a good runner, he's also a fine young man. He's the kind you want in your program."
The SEMO track team plans to use Daughhetee as a middle distance runner, his strongest event in high school. Another former Kelly star, Amy Arteme, has been a Southeast standout in both track and cross country the past several years.
"We feel like Adam is cut from the same kind of mold," said Haines. "He has the same dedication and is a very good athlete. He puts in a lot of miles."
