BENTON -- Kelly High School will host 14 schools today in the eighth annual Hawk Track and Field Invitational.

The 14 schools matches the largest invite to the Hawk Invitational, which will begin at 10 a.m.

Chaffee, Scott City, Portageville, East Prairie, Ste. Genevieve-Valle, Malden, Caruthersville, Grandview, New Madrid County Central, Charleston, Park Hills Central, Oran and Crystal City will all field athletes.

"We've got a good group coming in," Kelly coach Bill Davis said. "There will be quite a few all-staters competing."

Davis said Park Hills and Ste. Genevieve should be the teams to beat on the boys side, but "I would consider ourselves as a dark horse," he said.

In girls action, Ste. Genevieve and New Madrid figure to field the strongest teams, Davis said.

"We're normally up there," said Davis. "But we're a little short on depth this year."

Kelly has never taken first place at the Hawk Invitational.

The meet should conclude around 5 p.m.
