Kelly softball lost 4-3 to Marionville in the Class 2 third-place game in Springfield.

After trailing the entire Class 2 third-place game Friday afternoon, Kelly cut the lead to one run in the bottom of the sixth, but fell short to Marionville.

The Hawks lost 4-3 to Marionville at the Killian Softball Complex Friday afternoon in Springfield, claiming fourth place.

Marionville scored three runs in the first inning and added one in the top of the sixth before Kelly got on the board.

With two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth, Samantha Ratledge reached on an error by the third baseman, scoring McKynlee Neumeyer.

Alexis Dock singled, scoring Jade Rampley and Kama Collier to make it 4-3, but the inning ended with two runners stranded.

Stephanie Worth singled to centerfield to lead off the seventh inning, but the Hawks made three consecutive outs to end the game.

Marionville only outhit Kelly 11-10, but Kelly left 10 runners on base in the game. Kelly's season ended with a record of 19-9.

Earlier in the day a couple of unearned run in the first two innings led to a 2-0 loss to South Callaway for Kelly in a Class 2 semifinal at the Killian Softball Complex in Springfield.

The Hawks outhit South Callaway 6-2 in the game, but an infield error in both the first and second innings by Kelly allowed a run to score in each inning. The only hit recorded by South Callaway (24-4) in the first two innings was an infield single.

Kelly left six runners on base in the game and had another runner doubled off to end the top of the first inning.

The Hawks stranded the bases loaded in the second inning after three consecutive two-out hits and had a runner thrown out at home in the sixth inning.
