BENTON, Mo. — The Kelly girls’ soccer team put on commanding and convincing performance, during a 6-1 win over Eagle Ridge Christian at Kelly High School on Thursday, April 20.
“At the beginning of the match we knew that Eagle Ridge was looking for a the win in they show it by scoring the goal,” said Kelly coach Omar Campos. “We also knew that we wanted it to give our seniors the best senior night match. We were aggressive throughout most of the match and outshot Eagle Ridge but we couldn’t finish the play in the first half. Kristin Grogan had multiple shots and was not able to finish them. We knew Grogan was going to put one shots in sooner or later. We just needed it to continue staying positive, and continue being aggressive.”
After trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Lady Hawks (4-5-2) responded with six goals in the second half.
Those goals were scored by Kristin Grogan (3), Rivers Mason (1), Lydia Lewis (1) and Ali Heacox (1), and were assisted by Jada Griggs (1), Tabitha Whaley (1) and Heacox (1).
“On the second half we made some modifications on our midfield,” Campos said. “Which it gave us more opportunities on counter attacking, and more long passes to Kristin Grogan.”
Kelly travels to Farmington (3-6-0) on Monday, April 24, and to Saxony Lutheran (5-6-0) on Wednesday, April 26.
