Kelly reaches Lady Royals Classic finale

BROSELEY, Mo. -- Kelly outscored Doniphan 9-5 in overtime Thursday to win 61-57 and advance to the championship of the Lady Royals Holiday Classic girls basketball tournament.

Cara Scherer scored 22 points to lift Kelly, which led by nine points going into the fourth quarter, then was outscored 25-16 to force overtime. Christy Kluesner added 14 points.

Kelly, the third seed, improved to 6-3 and dropped No. 2 Doniphan to 5-4. The Hawks will play for the title at 8 p.m. Saturday against top-seeded Twin Rivers, which is 7-1 after it beat Clearwater in Thursday's other semifinal.
