Kelly's state final four run in softball helped the Hawks net four first-team all-state spots in the recently released Missouri Softball Coaches Association all-state team.

Senior pitcher Kalie Hughes, senior catcher Summer Proctor, senior third baseman Brittany Ponder and sophomore outfielder Sarah Ruff all made the first team for Class 2.

The Hawks (25-7) finished tied for third after the third-place game was rained out. Kelly fell to Class 2 runner-up Westran 1-0 in nine innings in the state semifinals.

Hughes led the Hawks in RBIs and finished with a 19-6 record on the mound with more than 160 strikeouts. Proctor, Ponder and Ruff all hit better than .350, and each had more than 20 RBIs.

Notre Dame, which fell in the sectional round in Class 3, had three players earn all-state honors. Senior first baseman Kristain Burger earned all-state honors for the third straight year. Burger set single-season school records in eight hitting categories, including batting average (.543), home runs (9), runs (40), hits (50) and RBIs (55).

Senior pitcher Beth Schnurbusch made the team for the second straight season. Schnurbusch finished 14-1 on the mound with a 0.94 ERA. Also earning all-state honors was sophomore outfielder Paris Burger, who finished with a .521 average with 32 runs scored and 48 hits.

Kristain Burger, Paris Burger and Schnurbusch also earned all-region and all-district honors. Also earning all-district honors from Notre Dame were Erika Reinagel, Miranda Schlosser, Cortney Ostendorf, Lauren Bond and Allison Peters.

All-district volleyball

Jackson senior Katelyn James earned first-team all-district honors in Class 4 District 1 in volleyball.

Wendi Zickfield and Kristin Shirrell made the second team from Central. Ashley Soemo also made the second team from Jackson.

All-MVC team

Mississippi Valley Conference volleyball champion Leopold earned five all-conference spots on the recently released all-conference team.

Jenny Vandeven, Cassie Seiler, Casey Bucher, Maddy Hutchings and Janice Jansen represented the Wildcats.

Cynthia Volz and Jessica Seyer made the team from Oak Ridge; Kara Versemann and Nicole Petzoldt made the squad from Saxony Lutheran; Erica Wilfong and Jenna Hahs represented Meadow Heights; and Chelsea Snider made the team from Leopold.
