JACKSON -- After getting rained out last weekend, the Jackson Tournament held 64 games Saturday with Fox emerging as the tourney champion with a 14-4 win over Kelly.
Cor Jesu took third place with a 3-2 win over Hillsboro. LaFayette won the fifth-place game over Lutheran South. First game losers moved to pool play were Jackson and Vienna (Ill.) both went 3-0 to win the two respective pools.
Jackson, no-hit by LaFayette 11-0 in its first game, reeled off three easy wins in pool play to improve to 13-7 on the season. The Lady Indians beat Dongola 12-0, Twin Rivers 23-0 and Perryville 13-0 on a six-inning perfect game by Christy Teets.
Staci Seabaugh allowed two hits in the win over Dongola. Beth Becker got the win against Twin Rivers, allowing two hits and Teets struck out four in her perfect game.
Top tournament hitters for the Lady Indians were: Dana Eakins 6-for-13 (.462), Jessica Shultz 4-for-9 (.444), Melissa Palmer 4-for-9 (.444) and Cherish Tillman 4-for-11 (.364).
Cape Central (12-6) lost to Lutheran South 5-0 in its opening game, then went 1-2 in pool play. Central beat St. Clair 8-2, lost to Vienna 7-4 and lost to Seckman in nine innings 3-2.
In the St. Clair win, the Lady Tigers pounded 15 hits, led by Courtney Haman's three hits. Michelle Lunsford, Amber Voerg, Amy Harris and Cassie Koch all had two hits.
Kim Aslinger was the winning pitcher and she also went the distance in the extra-inning loss to Seckman. In the Vienna loss, Ashley Voerg had three hits and Amy Harris ripped a three-run double. Amber Voerg added two hits.
