DELTA, Mo. — Drew Klipfel scored a game-high 30 and led Kelly to a 66-47 victory at Delta on Friday, Jan. 20.
The Hawks improved to 9-9 with the win, while Bobcats dropped to (4-12) with the loss.
“[Klipfel] is a terrific player,” said Kelly coach Jeremy Brinkmeyer. “He’s the type of player that coaches dream about having on their team. He has always had the capability of playing like this, it’s just he is finally seeing in himself what everyone else has been seeing for a while.
“His confidence is growing,” Brinkmeyer said. “He’s a senior leader for this team and it’s been fun to see him come out of his shell since the Christmas tournament.”
Brinkmeyer added that playing hard on defense and sharing the basketball were the keys to the team getting such a lop-sided win.
Kelly will host Saxony Lutheran (8-8) on Tuesday, Jan. 24, while Delta will travel to East Prairie (12-5) on Friday, Jan. 27.
Both teams will compete in the Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament, beginning Saturday, Jan. 28.
