CHAFFEE -- After knocking off top-seeded Scott City on Wednesday, No. 4 Delta's well of upsets ran dry against No. 2 Kelly in the championship game of the Scott-Mississippi Conference girls basketball tournament.

Kelly controlled the first half and on Thursday won 50-42.

The Lady Hawks held a 15-6 first-quarter edge and led 25-15 at halftime. Delta shot just 4 of 16 from the free-throw line for the game.

For Kelly (11-3), Ashley Dirnberger and Jennifer McNiell each scored 13 points.

Amanda McDaniel scored a game-high 16 points for Delta (11-3).

Perryville 96, De Soto 35

PERRYVILLE -- Perryville hit nine 3-pointers, held visiting De Soto to eight field goals and scored a season-high 96 points in its win on Thursday.

Perryville (13-4) held a 27-12 first-quarter advantage and led 51-22 at halftime.

The Lady Pirates' Renee Kaempfe had a game-high 22 points. April Watts scored 16, Jeni Blevins 14, Tiffany Perkins 14 and Amy Verseman 11.

Windsor 58, St. Vincent 36

PERRYVILLE -- Windsor jumped to an 18-5 first-quarter lead and won handily at St. Vincent on Thursday.

St. Vincent trailed 31-17 at halftime and was outscored 13-6 in the third quarter.

Jessica Lakenan led St. Vincent (6-7) with 13 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Perryville 71, Ste. Genevieve 61

CHESTER, Ill. -- Behind 21 points from Paul Weinkein, 19 from Tyson Brown and 16 from Michael Downen, Perryville beat Ste. Genevieve in a consolation semifinal game in the Chester Tournament on Thursday.

"Our three inside guys were really active," said Perryville coach Dean Lewis.

Perryville will play an opponent to be determined at 5 p.m. on Saturday for the consolation title.

Perryville (8-7) jumped to a 16-9 first quarter bulge and led 31-26 at halftime.

Jackson 59, Dexter 18

JACKSON -- Although his Indians' win was decisive, Jackson coach Steve Wachter came away impressed with Dexter on Thursday.

"It was a good dual meet," Wachter said.

Jackson improved to 5-1. The JV team beat Dexter 64-18.
