Kelly Essner scored 25 points to lead top-seeded Kelly past Greenville 56-35 on Saturday in the championship game of the Class 3 District 2 tournament in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
After winning the championship game at Three Rivers Community College, Kelly (24-4) will return to Poplar Bluff on Wednesday to face Doniphan (20-6) in a Class 3 sectional game at 6:30 p.m.
"We're very proud of the girls' accomplishments," Kelly coach Rod McQuerter said after his team won its second district championship in three years. "The girls played hard, as a team, and all with a positive attitude."
Brittney Ponder added 11 points, which led second-seeded Greenville 16-2 after one period and 34-14 at halftime.

Alex Armbruster poured in 27 points, leading St. Vincent to victory against St. Louis Crossroads on Saturday night in the Class 2 District 3 tournament at the Perry Park Center in Perryville.
The Indians (20-6) will play Vienna (17-12) at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday in the Class 2 sectional at Rolla, Mo.
Danny Rellergert added scored 15 points for St. Vincent.

Charleston defeated Kelly in the Class 3 District 2 title game.
For the Hawks, Kendal Deason scored 22 points and hit four 3-pointers, while his brother Kent Deason scored 14 points.
Charleston will play Portageville on Wednesday in the Class 3 sectional at Poplar Bluff.
The Hawks finished 21-6 in their first season under coach Cory Johnson.
