SCOTT CITY, Mo. 00 Scott City starter Jordan Comer had a no-hitter going into the sixth inning, but Kelly erupted for four runs in the sixth and four in the seventh to hand the host Rams an 8-1 loss in high school baseball action Tuesday.
Justin Simpher, the area's strikeout leader, pitched a gem for Kelly, going all seven innings and allowing one run on three hits, with 12 strikeouts and two walks.
"It was good to get back in the win column," said Kelly coach Mike Scott, whose team broke a six-game losing streak and improved to 9-13.
Comer ended up allowing eight runs, four earned, on 10 hits, a walk and a hit batsman as Scott City dropped to 5-13.
"We got into the sixth and they got a hit and a walk, then we made two huge errors and they got another hit to put us away," Scott City coach Mike Umfleet said.
Tyler Schlosser led Kelly's offense with three hits and he also stole three bases. Simpher and Barry Ziegler each had two hits and drove in two runs while Major Burger added two RBIs.
Michael O'Brien had Scott City's RBI.
Chaffee 7, East Prairie 1
CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Three Red Devil pitchers combined for 14 strikeouts as Chaffee moved to within one victory of the 20-win plateau.
G.P. Glueck was credited with the win after working the first two innings. Glueck obtained all six outs via the strikeout while allowing three hits. He departed with the Red Devils leading 2-1. He was followed to the mound by Matt Stroup, who allowed one hit in three innings, and Zac Horman.
Jeremy Lynn and Glueck each had three hits as Chaffee (19-2) had eight overall. Two of Glueck's hits went for triples.
Chaffee took a 3-1 lead into the fifth inning and padded its lead on a two-run homer by Travis Hanback, who finished with three RBIs. The Red Devils added two more runs in the sixth.
St. Vincent 5Ste. Genevieve Valle 0
PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Defending 1A state champion St. Vincent finally reached the .500 level behind a strong pitching and hitting performance by Derek Kutz.
Kutz fired a two-hitter while connecting for a pair of doubles and driving in three runs. Kutz went the distance, striking out seven and walking none.
Adam Bockman added two hits for St. Vincent (11-11), which had six hits overall.
Bockman, Kutz and Ryan Brown all had doubles in a two-run first. The Indians added two runs in the second and one in the sixth.

Cape Central 110Notre Dame 76
Central defeated Notre Dame in a dual meet for the second time this year as both teams closed out their regular seasons.
Each team make a state-cut time as Notre Dame's Lindsay Kuper made her fifth individual cut in winning the 50 freestyle. Central's Terra Herzberger made her first state cut in claiming the 100 butterfly.
Notre Dame closed its first year of swimming with a 6-6 dual record.
"We're thrilled with that record," said Notre Dame coach Lenny Kuper. "Being a new team we were just hoping to win some."
Central won eight of the 12 events, including a 1-2-3 finish in diving.
"The diving really opened up it up for us with our depth," said Cape Central coach Dayna Powell.
The state meet will be held May 18-19 St. Peters RecPlex in St. Peters, Mo.

MARION, Ill. -- Notre Dame fell behind early, but recovered to pick up the win and improve to 11-10-3.
"We started out pretty flat and didn't play well for the first 20 minutes," Notre Dame coach Jeff Worley said. "I was disappointed with the start but we played better after that."
Kristen Boos had a goal and an assist to lead Notre Dame.
Sara Berkbigler and Amanda Dirnberger both scored, while Cyndi Cox and Sierra Ellis each provided assists.
Perryville 2, Jackson 0
JACKSON, Mo. -- Perryville continued its sensational season by blanking Jackson.
Brooke Winkler scored both goals for the Lady Pirates, who improved to 18-2-3. Stacy Baer and Jenna Schuessler had assists while goalkeeper Amanda Nuyt recorded the shutout.
Jackson fell to 12-7-3.
BOYS GOLF
Notre Dame 160St. Pius 177
CRYSTAL CITY, Mo. --In a final tuneup for next week's Class 2A state meet, Notre Dame rolled in a dual match at par-36 Crystal Highlands.
Nick Martin led the Bulldogs (15-5) with a 1-over 37. He was followed by Elliot Maschmann at 38, Tim Buerck at 41 and Adam Fenwick at 44.
SOFTBALL
Scott City 4, Oak Ridge 2
SCOTT CITY -- Scott City ended its season at 10-10 with a victory.
Amy Young picked up the win. She allowed two runs, both earned, on six hits and two walks. She struck out nine.
Britne Amick went 2-for-2 with an RBI as the Lady Rams managed only three hits.
Laura Glueck suffered the loss. She walked five and struck out six.
Lexie Myers and Candice Schaper had two hits each for Oak Ridge (1-11).
Chaffee 14, East Prairie 12
CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Chaffee ended another strong season at 15-2 with a big-time comeback.
The Lady Red Devils trailed 10-1 in the third inning, but they rallied with four runs in the third, five in the fourth and four in the sixth.
Jennifer Vandeven got the win in 3 2/3 innings of relief. She allowed no runs on two hits and one walk while striking out four.
Casey Graviett led Chaffee's offensive attack, going 3-for-3 with two runs batted in. Kate Pfefferkorn and Vandeven had two hits apiece.
