Kelly continues its winning ways on the diamond with a 2-0 win against Triad in the Notre Dame Showcase on Saturday at Capaha Field in Capone Girardeau.

The Hawks have won three games in as many days. Unlike the previous two games, where they scored over 10 runs on their way to an easy victory, the Hawks had to edge out the Knights in a much closer game.

Kelly has still proven that it can pitch with the best of them on any given day. This time around it was Drew Klipfel, who threw a complete game shutout with six strikeouts and six hits.

"We got several guys that we can run out there and we feel really good about going deep in the ballgame," Kelly head coach Josh Hopkins said.

Kelly scored both runs on groundouts. Dalton Forck drove in a run in the first inning and Mason Eubanks drove in the other run in the fifth inning when he grounded into a fielder's choice.

Colton Essner, Ross Peters, and Eubanks each knocked in a hit for the Hawks.

Kelly (13-5) has regained their consistency as of late. The Hawks started the season winning eight of their first 10 games before hitting an inconsistent rough patch.

The Hawks are on their way to exceeding their win total (14) from the previous year.

"There's so much fun," Hopkins said. "There's been a little bit of recent baseball history here at Kelly. They've done a good job, these guys have of saying, 'Hey, we're gonna make a name for ourselves, we're gonna be our own.' So the 2023 Kelly Hawks, man, these guys they're just fun to be around. They come to the park, they're ready to work, but at the same time, they have fun playing the game. They just love the game and love playing it the right way."

Kelly travels to St. Vincent on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
