~ Southeast's AD says the university will follow the conference's lead.

Southeast Missouri State athletic director Don Kaverman offered no timetable when reached Saturday for comment on the Ohio Valley Conference's investigation of the Redhawks' women's basketball program.

Statements released by both the university and the conference on Friday said OVC commissioner Dr. Jon Steinbrecher had initiated an investigation into possible NCAA violations at the request of Southeast president Dr. Kenneth Dobbins.

"I really don't know a whole lot more than was in the release," Kaverman said Saturday when reached by telephone.

He said he did not know when the investigation would be completed.

"I really have no idea because I don't know the scope of the situation and what we're dealing with," Kaverman said.

Steinbrecher said in the OVC's release that the conference has been in contact with the NCAA and that a report would be forwarded to the NCAA at the conclusion of the probe.

Steinbrecher, who attended the Southeast men's and women's basketball games Saturday at Eastern Kentucky, had no further comment.

Kaverman said the investigation is in the OVC's hands. "We'll take our marching orders from them," he said.
