First-year Perryville quarterback Josh Perreault had an impressive Week 3, running for two touchdowns and passing for another to help his team earn a 21-14 victory over Ste. Genevieve. The win marked the first time the Pirates have beaten the Dragons since 1994.

Perreault put his team ahead for good with about five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter when he dashed into the end zone after a 65-yard run.

"It was a pretty good scamper," Pirates' coach Rick Chastain said. "We had been running the ball up the middle quite often through the course of the night and we called for a bootleg and he was one-on-one with the cornerback and duped him, and nobody was able to catch him after that."

Chastain said Perreault complements the already strong running game provided by three year starting tailback Kris Cottner.

"Basically I've got two tailbacks back there and it's great," the Perryville coach said. "It's hard to defend when you got a couple guys like that."

Chastain added that Perreault gets better every week.

"Every game he just keeps getting a little bit better and a little bit more mature," Chastain said. "He's got control of the offense right now. He understands the pistol offense and he's doing a great job. His fakes are good and he's leading us."
