ST. LOUIS -- Ryan Johnson scored the tiebreaking goal 22 seconds into the third period and the Blues held on for a 3-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night.

Jamal Mayers scored an empty-netter with 2 seconds remaining for the Blues (4-1-1)

Chicago took the lead 8:44 into the second period when Lasse Kukkonen scored his first goal of the exhibition season.

St. Louis took advantage of two Chicago penalties late in the second period to tie the game.

Alex Khavanov scored at 18:38 after Jon Klemm picked up a cross-checking penalty and teammate Tyler Arnason was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct at 17:05.

Chicago (1-3-2) switched goalies at the start of the third period with Michael Leighton replacing Craig Anderson.
