Jackson High's bid for its first playoff soccer victory ever was put on hold for a while.

The Indians were scheduled to face Hazelwood Central Tuesday in a Class 4A sectional game but that contest was postponed because of heavy rain that put many of the fields at the Anheuser-Busch Conference & Sports Centre in Fenton under water.

Jackson and Hazelwood Central are now slated to play at 6 p.m. Thursday at the same site.

"They have a couple of grass fields and a couple of turf fields. We were scheduled to play on a grass field and they told us those are totally under water," said Jackson coach Bonnie Knowlan. "They said all the games (scheduled for Tuesday) were postponed."

The Indians have a 20-4-2 record and will be appearing in the sectional round for the second year in a row. They are led by senior Nathan Windeknecht, who has a school-record 48 goals.

Hazelwood Central is 19-7-3.
