Jackson freshman Jarrett Reisenbichler led a contingent of 11 local wrestlers by finishing fourth at the Missouri Wrestling Championships in Columbia, Mo.
Reisenbichler, one of six Jackson wrestlers at the meet and one of four to win first-round matches, finished fourth at 106 pounds in Class 4.
Reisenbichler (52-7) lost a 7-4 decision to Nixa sophomore Joe Velliquette (50-1) in the quarterfinals. Velliquette went on to win the 106 title. Reisenbichler won three wrestleback matches and ultimately lost by pin to Park Hill freshman Ke-Shawn Hayes in the third-place match. Reisenbichler (52-7) won decisions against Liberty sophomore Cannon Trester (10-3 dec.), Holt senior Justin Scott (3-1) and Ozark senior J.J. Dorrell (5-4) to reach the third-place match.
Jackson junior Kodi Byrd (43-10) finished sixth at 113 pounds. Byrd lost by pin to Holt sophomore Lawton Brenna in the 113 quarterfinals. Byrd then went 2-2 in wrestleback matches, ultimately getting pinned again by Brenna in the fifth-place match. Byrd earlier had won wrestleback matches against Francis Howell North freshman Sam Ritchie (9-1) and Lee Summit sophomore Cartland Allen (2-0), then fell to Waynesville junior Andrew Wallace (10-2).
Jackson sophomore Cody Morgan (45-7) finished sixth at 170 pounds. Morgan was pinned by Blue Springs senior Chris Lattner in the quarterfinals. Lattner later went on to lose in the championship match. Morgan won two wrestleback matches before dropping an 8-2 decision to Fox senior Dominic Vitale in the third-place semifinals. Morgan then lost a 5-2 decision to Waynesville senior Sam Cyr in the fifth-place match. Morgan had won decisions against Northwest Cedar Hill senior Cameron Noland (6-0) and Rockbridge senior Harry Schauwecker (6-4) in the wrestleback.
Jackson sophomore Dylan Rush (38-16) lost a 7-3 decision to Rockbridge senior Trent Johnson in the 145 quarterfinals, then was eliminated in his first wrestleback match.
Notre Dame sophomore Trenton Gross (26-16) lost by technical fall to Odessa senior Jack Shull in the 120 quarterfinals in Class 2. Gross then was eliminated with a 10-0 loss to Grain Valley sophomore Anthony Brown in wrestleback.
Notre Dame junior Trever Foltz (44-7) lost his quarterfinal match to a two-time state champion in the 182-pound competition. Kirksville senior Travis Lang improved to 54-0 with a pin of Foltz. Lang, who went unbeaten as a junior at 160 pounds and won the 152 title as a sophomore, won his third state championship with two more pins. Foltz was eliminated when he lost his first wrestleback match to Fulton sophomore Paul Books in a 9-2 decision.
Notre Dame sophomore Caleb Heisserer (37-15) was eliminated in the second round of wrestleback, getting pinned by Nevada junior Slade Stiles.
Central 145-pound senior Austin Martin (29-17) was eliminated in the second round of wrestleback in Class 3. Pacific sophomore Austin Repp ousted Martin with a 4-0 decision.
