ST. LOUIS -- Jackson turned in a big performance Saturday during Class 4A sectional wrestling competition held at Parkway South High School.

Seven of the Indians' eight sectional qualifiers finished in the top four to advance to the state tournament, which will begin Thursday in Columbia.

"That's the most we've ever taken to state since we've been in 4A," said Jackson coach Steve Wachter. "We had a real good day."

Brett Stroud at 125 pounds and Adam Wachter at 140 each won sectional titles for the Indians.

Cyle Huck (130) and Ray Goodson (215) both placed second; Spencer Hobeck (heavyweight) was third; and Ricky Feiner (112) and James Love (152) each finished fourth.

"We wrestled really well. I was very proud of them," said Wachter. "Even the one who didn't place, J.P. Sides (103), wrestled well, he just got beat out."

None of Cape Girardeau Central's three sectional qualifiers advanced to state.
