Mississippi Valley tournament

Oak Ridge and Zalma picked up victories to advance as the Mississippi Valley Conference tournament got under way in Zalma.

Oak Ridge beat Chaffee 69-52, and Zalma routed Marquand 91-45.

Brett Thomas led Oak Ridge (9-7) with 23 points, including three 3-pointers. Also in double figures were Stephen Wright (13), Garret Light (12) and Logan Mangels (10).

Michael Rutherford paced Chaffee with 14 points and Taimen Taylor added 13.

Zalma (7-8) was led by Steven Simmers with 23 points and Justin Stotts followed with 22. John Lebcowitz added 12 and Kevin Walker 10.

Dusty Brotherton scored 17 points for Marquand.
