The Jackson volleyball team overcame a challenge from rival Central on Tuesday before posting a 25-23, 18-25, 25-17 victory at home.
Ashlea Soemo had 11 kills for the Indians (5-7-1), while Katelyn James had nine kills and four blocks. Chelsea Olson recorded 24 assists, Megan Spooler had 15 digs and Megan Glueck added 13 digs.
Central (9-7-2) was led by Ashton Gerlach with 15 digs. Kristin Shirrell had 13 assists and 13 digs, and Taylor Kirn had seven kills.
The match was the first meeting between the teams this season, with new Jackson coach Maile Gannon coming over from Central during the summer.
Central finished ahead of Jackson in the silver bracket of the B.A. Sports Volleyball Classic on Saturday.
JV -- Jackson won 25-21, 25-13.
Freshmen -- Jackson won 25-17, 25-22.
St. Vincent improved to 15-1 with a road sweep.
Kelsey Cissell served 10 points and added six assists, while Brooke Brown also served 10 points. Lacey Siegmund had seven assists and three kills.
JV -- St. Vincent won 25-11, 25-22.
Cassie Graviett had six kills in a home win.
Beth Grifin had four aces, and Kayla Graviett added nine digs for the Eagles (2-9).
Scott City fell in two games at home.
The Rams fell to 7-2-1, with both losses coming without all-region hitter/setter Kacie Ritter, who also missed the B.A. Sports Volleyball Classic over the weekend due to illness.
Kristin Yetman led the Rams with seven assists, Whitney Tapley had three kills, Brooke Simpson had five blocks, and Brittany Licare added four digs.
JV -- Dexter won 20-25, 25-19, 25-12.
Jenna Hahs had three kills and three blocks in a three-game loss at home.
Brandy Mayberry led the Panthers (5-6-1) with four kills, and Kyla Mouser and Kylee Shoemake had three kills apiece.
JV -- Meadow Heights won 25-18, 25-15.
Jessica Seyer led Oak Ridge with five kills in a home win.
Kia Thomas added three kills and three blocks for Oak Ridge (6-5), and Lauren Meyer had three kills.
JV -- Zalma won 25-23, 27-25.
Saxony Lutheran came back to win in three games on the road against Christ Our Savior.
Nicole Petzoldt led the Crusaders (3-6) with 13 points and had two kills. Tiffany Haertling had nine points and five kills, Kara Versemann had nine points and seven digs, Kari Hadler added five digs and Brooke Kasten had 12 assists.
JV -- Saxony Lutheran lost in three.
Notre Dame was swept on the road. The Bulldogs fell to 8-7.
Advance was swept on the road.
Central remained undefeated in dual play with a home win.
The Tigers improved to 10-0.
