One-hundred ten minutes of regulation play was not enough to decide fifth-seeded Jackson's 4-3 victory over second-seeded Carbondale in the JV championship match played at Shawnee Park on Thursday.
Jackson's Matt Buttry netted the first goal about ten minutes into the first half of play. Carbondale tied the score, making it 1-1 10 minutes into the second half, which is how the score remained at the end of regulation.
Neither team could score after a 20-minute overtime session, so a shootout was needed to decide the outcome. Five players were chosen from each side with Jackson's Ryan McClard, Matt Litzelselner and Matt Neil scoring one goal each.
Jackson (8-5-6) goalie Austin McDowell stopped three of Carbondale's five shots.
