Jackson U-11 wins tourney opener 9-2

BOONVILLE, Mo. -- The Jackson Under 11 Cal Ripken baseball team won its regional tournament pool-play opener Friday, defeating Colorado 9-2.

Bobby Clark pitched three innings for the win, allowing three hits and striking out three. Logan Bartles followed with three hitless innings, striking out four and walking two.

Jackson outhit Colorado 12-3. Zach McDowell and Bartles both went 3-for-4 for Jackson.

Jackson scored three runs in the first, fifth and sixth innings.

The local squad continues pool play today, facing Minnesota at 5 p.m.
