The Jackson baseball team notched a 3-2 win Saturday over St. Louis power Vianney, ranked No. 4 in the Post Dispatch large school rankings, but the Indians could not carry the momentum over against Fort Zumwalt South, which hosted the two games.

The Indians climbed to .500 with a 3-2 win over Vianney in eight innings. Bret Groening pitched four innings of one-hit scoreless relief to get the win. Groening struck out three and walked one.

Logan Lawson pitched the first four innings for the Indians, allowing two runs on two hits. Luke Crader led Jackson with two hits.

Jackson (5-6) dropped its second game of the day 10-1 to Fort Zumwalt South. Cameron Heath took the loss.

Central allowed four runs in the sixth inning and fell on the road.

Tigers ace Brad LaBruyere took the loss, pitching one inning of relief. LaBruyere allowed two runs on three hits. Lance Young allowed three runs on six hits in five innings of work.

LaBruyere had two doubles for Central (5-3).

Notre Dame took advantage of eight Webster Groves errors to win on the road.

Anthony Wulfers moved to 3-0 with a complete-game victory. Wulfers struck out five, walked one and allowed seven hits.

Jacob Wengert had two hits for the Bulldogs (8-3).

GIRLS SOCCER Central 12, Centralia, Ill., 0

Three players knocked in two goals apiece as the Tigers crushed the first-year program in a game stopped at halftime.

Central coach Tom Doyle said his players took long possessions with the game in command.

"We did that once we were ahead 7-0, but some of the girls hadn't scored a goal before," he said.

Sarah Uptmor had two goals and an assist. Laura Lusk and Brittne Stovall each scored two goals.

Megan Orr, Bailey Rust, Jenna Matthews and Michelle Noland each had one goal and an assist.

Lizzy Alberson and Heather Deisher scored a goal apiece. Lee Thomas, Kelsey Holloway and Tierra Walker added single assists.

GIRLS SWIMMING Lindbergh Invitational

Hannah Kinder won the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events to lead Central at the Lindbergh Invitational.

The Tigers (247 points) finished sixth out of eight teams. Lindbergh (497.5) was first, followed by Cor Jesu (359) and Oakville (349).

Tim Simmons had four hits, three RBIs and was the winning pitcher in the opener.
