JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Jackson's wrestling team squared off against top teams from Missouri and Illinois at the Missouri Duals and came away third with a thrilling 37-35 dual win over Blue Springs.
Jackson finished pool play 4-2. The Indians faced four top-10 finishers in Class 2 in their pool. In its first dual of the two-day tournament Jackson fell 51-21 to Granite City (Ill.).
After an opening loss, the Indians strung three straight wins before losing a 36-30 match to Helias. Jackson bounced back to beat Raytown South, and Jackson won a second-place tie-breaker in the pool.
Brock Howard (145 pounds), Cody Rouse (152 pounds), Kramer Rampley (160 pounds) and Blake Ulrich (171 pounds) all finished 7-0 in the tournament. Ben Wachter finished 5-2 at 140 pounds, Ben McMillan was 4-3 at 119 and Sean Gant was 4-3 at 125.

Less than 18 hours after turning back Dexter by eight points, Jackson followed up with another win, this time a 49-47 result over Parkway Central. Tyler McNeely had 15 points for the Indians (4-1).

Sikeston cruised to a 50-36 win in the championship of the Chaffee Tournament after leading Delta 24-19 at halftime. Shea Smith had 14 and Sarah Cook 13 for Delta.

Central nearly made a state cut and finished 11th at the Marquette Relays.
The Tigers 200 free relay missed a state cut by 0.38 seconds. Alex Heddle, Sam Maguire, Clay Schermann and Hunter Givens finished sixth in 1:36.38. Central also got a top-eight in the 300 breast stroke relay. Heddle, Maguire and Schermann finished seventh in 3:42.71. Central's divers finished eighth with a score of 323.80.
