Jackson sophomore Cody Rouse took third at the state wrestling championships at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Mo., Saturday.

Rouse started the day with a 9-2 decision over Kellen Delaney of Park Hill in the consolation semifinals. In the third-place match Rouse defeated Charles Brown of Hazelwood Central 6-5.

Matt Kahle's 189-pound championship results Saturday night were not available.

Central senior Trever Duncan finished fifth, going 1-1 Saturday. Duncan lost his first match to Excelsior Springs' Chris Lingle, who defeated Duncan on the opening day of the tournament. Lingle defeated Duncan by an 11-8 decision. Duncan recovered and defeated Chad Loethen of Helias 4-2.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Delta 59, Greenville 36

Delta held visiting Greenville to 17 first-half points and cruised.

The Bobcats (21-2) led 33-17 at halftime and increased their lead to 47-23 after three quarters. Rebecca Below led Delta with 28 points and Sarah M. Cook had 13.

Festus 50, St. Vincent 36

St. Vincent scored in double digits in only one quarter and lost to Festus.

For St. Vincent (8-15), Danielle Schremp led with eight points.

Jackson 61, Hazelwood Central 39

Jackson improved to 17-8 with a win at Hazelwood Central late Friday night.

Jenna Leet led all scorers with 25 points. The Indians struggled offensively early and led 18-12 at halftime, then poured in 43 second-half points.

The Indians outscored Hazelwood Central 22-6 in the fourth quarter.

Ozark Christian Conference Tournament

At Marble Hill, Mo., host New Salem Baptist downed Eagle Ridge in the championship game.

New Salem (19-7) led 16-13 at halftime but needed a late 3-pointer by Sarah Green to put the game in overtime. Green led all scorers with 28 points. Autumn Crowden led the Eagles with 20 points.

Green and MacKenzie Jones were chosen all-tournament from New Salem, and Rachel Carbaugh and Cara Ervin were selected from Eagle Ridge.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Kelly 86, Puxico 64

Kelly jumped to a 31-20 halftime lead and won at home.

Leading by only 11 at halftime, the Hawks (9-13) outscored Puxico 25-14 in the third quarter to build a 22-point lead.

Chris Romas and Lance Scheffer led the Hawks with 14 points each. Major Burger had 13, and Josh Jones had 11.

Kelly lost 87-84 in overtime a day earlier at Bell City.

Ozark Christian Conference Tournament

Host New Salem Baptist won the championship at the Ozark Christian Conference Tournament.

New Salem, seeded third, upset No. 1 Southern Missouri Christian School 81-74. David Green led New Salem with 25 points. Johnathan Davault had 16, Andy Yount had 19 and Josiah Davault had 16.

In the third-place game Eagle Ridge defeated Peoples Christian Academy 70-52. Andrew Mellies led with 20 points and 16 rebounds. T.J. Crowden added 13, Joel Powell had 15 and Phillip Brock had 16.

Mellies and Powell were picked for the all-tournament team from Eagle Ridge. Green and Johnathan Davault represented New Salem Baptist on the all-tournament team.
