Jackson and Chaffee opened their softball seasons with an extra-inning affair, with visiting Jackson scoring three runs in the top of the eighth to prevail 4-1.

Darla Mangels pitched all eight innings for Jackson, allowing seven hits.

Whitney Horrell also went the distance for Chaffee, scattering 13 hits.

Erika Kauffman, Cameron Tomsu and Chelsea McDowell all had two hits for the Indians, while Olivia Coomer, Kegan Orr and Courtney Walter led the Red Devils with two hits apiece.

Chaffee led 1-0 after scoring a fifth-inning run, then Jackson tied it with a run in the sixth. That's the way things stood until the eighth.
