The Jackson softball team was left stranded Tuesday in a 2-0 loss at district rival Poplar Bluff.
Jackson (7-10) stranded seven runners, including three in scoring position, and had one thrown out at the plate on a double play to end the third inning.
Mallorie Maintz, who was 2-for-3, started the third with a double and moved up on Kayla Keith's ground out to the right side of the infield. Megan Clippard dropped down a safety squeeze but the Mules turned a 5-3-2 double play to end the threat.
The Indians put the leadoff batter on in two other innings but couldn't get them past second base.
Erica Gray was also 2-for-3 to lead the Jackson offense, which had eight hits.
Maci Coleman fanned two, walked none and hit one batter for the Mules (7-4).
Jackson pitcher Kelsie Meystedt struck out six and walked one.
Lexi Hafford started the bottom of the first with a triple down the right-field line and scored on a double steal by her older sister Lara Hafford, who walked.
A two-out, opposite-field single by Katelynn Bratcher made it 2-0 in the fourth.
Jackson threw out two runners at the plate in the fifth, one following a throwing error on a bunt that ended up down the first-base line to Gray, who threw a strike to the plate for the first out. A double play on a grounder to third baseman Keith then ended the threat with the out at home.

Kristi Brucker went 3 for 4 and drove in four runs to lead the Hawks to a five-inning road victory.
Brucker was also the winning pitcher. She threw a five-hitter and recorded three strikeouts.
Stephanie Worth and Morgan LeDure also had three hits apiece for Kelly (11-3). Samantha Ratledge, Jade Rampley and Alexis Dock added two hits each.

Ashlynn Collier had three hits, including a triple, as the Crusaders picked up their 10th win of the season on the road.
Grace Mirly doubled and a tripled for the Crusaders (10-4). Abby Hadler and Natalie Schlimpert added two hits apiece. Tayla Myer delivered two RBIs.
Kelli Brunke took the win in the circle.
Carleigh Burnett had two doubles at the plate to pace the Red Devils (3-7). Cierra Crites also had two doubles and three RBIs.

Karsen Powers recorded 20 digs to help the Bulldogs get the win at home over the Dragons (9-5-2).
Defense was key to Notre Dame's victory as Madeline Rosenquist recorded 12 digs while Annie Siebert and Kaitlin Welter each had 11 digs.
"It was a very defensive game with a lot of long rallies," Notre Dame coach Tara Stroup said. "Most of the points came off hitting errors."
Welter also served two aces and had five kills while Lydia Goodson added eight kills as Notre Dame improved to 14-1-1.
JV -- Notre Dame won 2-0.
Hailey Mouser nailed eight kills to lead the visiting Indians past the rival Tigers.
Autumn Reid added six kills for Jackson (4-7-3). Kayla Thurman served three aces and Hannah Hunt recorded two blocks. McKinzie Scott dished out eight assists.
McKenzie Bess had five kills while Gabby Hulcy recorded three blocks and Emily Diamond notched 11 assists to pace the Tigers (5-10).
JV -- Central won 25-22, 25-23.
The Blue Jays bounced back after narrowly dropping the first set to take the next two sets to get the conference win on the road.
Emma Hemmann recorded eight kills, four digs and one ace while McKenzie Elam added five kills and four digs for Oak Ridge (3-7-1). Chelsea Seyer served three aces and notched 12 digs for the Blue Jays.
Morgan McGregor served three aces to pace the Bulldogs (2-7-2).
JV -- Oak Ridge won 25-22, 25-23.
The Rams (1-9-1) fell to a tough Dexter (14-3) squad on the road.

Juan Hernandez and Emmanuel Miranda had a goal apiece for Perryville (9-1). Kyle Wood recorded two assists while Matt Moran had one.
Goalkeeper Luke Dobbelare snagged three saves in the shutout.

Duncan McKinley scored the lone goal off a penalty kick as the host Tigers (5-6) prevailed in double overtime over the Bulldogs (6-4-1).
