The Jackson girls soccer team captured the title in its own I-55 Classic by going 3-0 in the six-team event, including a pair of victories Saturday.

The Indians (16-2) routed Wentzville Holt 8-0, then slipped past Wildwood Lafayette 1-0 in overtime to wrap up the championship.

Erin Curtis scored the lone goal against Lafayette. Kylie Werner recorded her second shutout of the day.

"I told the girls at the beginning of the year that Lafayette would be one of the five big games we'll play this year," Jackson coach Zack Walton said. "It was a good tournament, and I thought we played well."

Against Holt, Molly Hartmann led Jackson with three goals and two assists.

Curtis, Hannah Kohm, Lauren Drewett, Laura Biester and Chelsea Dale all added goals. Jenni Tenholder had two assists.

Notre Dame finished third by picking up a pair of wins. The Bulldogs (11-8-3) defeated Cedar Hill Northwest 1-0, then defeated Wentzville Holt 4-0. In three games in the tournament, the Bulldogs did not allow a goal.

Meridith Medlin scored the lone goal in Notre Dame's win over Northwest, with Claudia Brauss and Laura Muir combining for the shutout in goal.

Medlin added a goal and two assists in the win over Holt. Lauren Mehner, Allison Essner and Kaitlyn Scheeter also scored for Notre Dame. Destiny Dirnberger had two assists. Brauss and Muir were in goal.

Central split a pair of games to finish fifth. The Tigers (10-7-1) lost to Lafayette 3-2 and defeated Northwest 2-1.

Meghan Orr scored a pair of goals against Lafayette, but the Tigers allowed the game-winning goal in the last minute of the first half. Tierra Walker had an assist for Central.

Brittne Stovall and Kate Miller scored in Central's 2-1 win over Northwest. Lauren Thompson and Orr had assists.

BASEBALL Oran Tournament

Kelly placed first in the three-team Oran Tournament after posting its second win of the week against the host Eagles.

Kelly outslugged Dexter 10-8 and Oran 13-9 Saturday in the one-day tournament. Oran defeated Dexter 8-7 in nine innings.

Kendal Deason was 5-for-5 and Kent Deason was 4-for-4 with a home run in Kelly's victory against Oran. Pitcher Caleb Daughetee also had three hits.

Trevor Irwin and Austin Dumey hit homers for Oran.
