The Jackson girls soccer team started its season with a bang, routing rival Central 4-0 on Tuesday at Central.
The Indians were playing their first game while this was the sixth game for the Tigers, who fell to 2-4.
Bobbi Jo Schlick gave Jackson a 1-0 halftime lead on an assist from Casey Schwab. Chelsea Dale added two second-half goals and Hannah Roach had the other.
Schlick, Erin Curtis and Lauren Drewett recorded assists.
Lindsay Poole was in goal for the shutout.
"It's good to get started, and it's really nice to come out in your first game and be able to score and be able to get a shutout," Jackson coach Zack Walton said. "I don't know which I'm more proud of, the defense or the offense."

Courtney Besand scored a hat trick in the first half to lead St. Vincent to a win.
Heidi Lappe, Morgan Moll and Brooke Brown added goals for St. Vincent (5-1). Liz Rozier had three assists while Lacey Siegmund, Morgan Moll and Sara Moll each had an assist.
Perryville 10, Winfield 0
Kendra Schilli led Perryville with four goals in a road rout.
Becca Hanquist added three goals, Chelsey Marr had two and Ashley Castleberry added a goal.
Marr and Liz Martin each had two assists, while Kasey Riney, Lindsay Martin, Ashley Reid, Teresa Troncacle, Nicole Gremaud and Alyssa Bauwens each had one. Chastity Marr had one save for the shutout.

Brett Slaten of Notre Dame and T.J. Smith of Jackson each shot a 39 to share medalist honors in a three-team meet at Bent Creek.
Josh Wheeler and A.J. Balsman were not far off the pace for Jackson at 41 and 42, respectively.

The Bobcats managed just two hits in their first loss of the season.
Portageville scored first when the second batter of the game connected for a little dribbler and a three-base throwing error allowed her to circle the bases.
Amanda Seabaugh and Kaci Menz had Delta's only hits, as the Bobcats struck out 14 times.
Kendra Burnett allowed only three hits while taking the loss. She struck out six.

Sophomore Dylan Drury belted a three-run home run and finished with four RBIs as Notre Dame picked up its first win of the season on the road.
Drury's blast highlighted a four-run third, when Notre Dame (1-2) climbed out of a 2-0 hole.
Drury finished 3-for-4, as did teammate Jordan Buchheit, who had a double.
Brett Heischmidt pitched all seven innings for the win. He allowed five hits, struck out three and walked four.

Scott City starter Ryan Modglin allowed just one hit but could not overcome another bout of wildness.
Modglin struck out 11 but walked eight batters in six innings and threw a wild pitch that brought in the tying run. In his first start, Modglin had walked 14.

Dustin LeGrand gave the Hawks a cushion with a two-run home run in the fifth inning that was part of his two-hit, five-RBI day at Poplar Bluff.
LeGrand's two-run double in the second inning gave Kelly a 4-0 lead at that point. Poplar Bluff closed within 4-3 before LeGrand hit his two-run homer.
Dallas Tew was the winning pitcher, yielding five hits and only one earned run over seven innings. He struck out 11, walked none and retired 12 of the last 14 batters he faced.

North County Invitational
The Perryville boys showed a balanced scoring attack in a third-place finish in the 15-team meet.
The Pirates scored top-six finishes in sprints, sprint relays, middle- and long-distance runs and three field events.
Kris Cottner had third-place finishes in the 100- and 200-meter runs. He teamed with Josh Perreault, Ryan Lorenz and Brandon Kennon for a third in the 400 relay and a second in the 800 relay.
Perreault added a fourth in the long jump, and Jason Blandford had third-place finishes in the shot put and discus.
The Pirates had 65 points. Potosi scored 109, and Farmington was second with 95.
The Perryville girls finished sixth, led by Brittany Castleberry's four top-four showings. She was first in the 300 hurdles, second in the 100 hurdles, third in the long jump and fourth in the 100.
Festus won the meet with 99 points. Perryville scored 48.
