The Jackson Senior Babe Ruth baseball team swept a doubleheader at Matthews on Saturday, 14-2 and 11-0.
Chris Roth had a big day for Jackson (9-3), picking up the win in the opener and homering in each game.
Roth had three hits, including a grand slam, in the opener. Garrett Fritsche and Ben Rhodes each added two hits.
Bryant Steffens pitched a four-hit shutout in the nightcap. Lance McGuire homered and doubled, while Adam Urhahn added two hits to go along with the home run by Roth.
Scott Co. juniors sweep
The Scott County American Legion junior team swept a doubleheader from visiting Cape Girardeau on Sunday, 7-4 and 7-6.
Jamie Scholz was the winning pitcher in the opener. Coby Holland had three hits for Scott County (6-3), while Mark Glastetter, Dustin Crowden and Ethan Essner added two each.
Essner notched the victory in the nightcap. Crowden and Cody Naramore both had two hits.
For Cape (10-7), Jamie Pickel had two hits in the opener, while Austin Davis, Josh Hiett and Tyler Buelow all had two hits in the nightcap.
