SIKESTON, Mo. -- Poplar Bluff edged Jackson by a stroke Monday to win the nine-team SEMO Golf Tournament at Bootheel Golf Club.

Josh Dowdy of Poplar Bluff and Chad Gill of Dexter tied for medalist at 4-over-par 76. Matt Litzelfelner of Jackson was two strokes back with a 78.

Notre Dame placed fifth, paced by Paul Unterreiner's 88.

BERNIE, Mo. -- Travis Binfield was 4-for-4 with a pair of home runs, two doubles and eight RBI to lead the Cardinals.

Ten players had hits for Woodland (12-8, 3-2 Stoddard Co. Conference), which finished with 18 hits in five innings and pulled to within a game of league leader Bernie. Scott Crader was 3-for-4 and Luke Johnson, Matt Upchurch and Anthony Grojean all were 2-for-3.

Jackson 2, Poplar Bluff 1

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Molly Hartmann and Dana Wright each had a goal and assist for Jackson, which battled out of a 1-1 halftime tie and improved to 12-1-1.

Jackson's junior varsity won 4-0 behind goals from Emily Curtis, Amber Tenholder and Jessie Bolen, who had two. Missy Lane had the shutout.
