ST. LOUIS -- Rams running back Steven Jackson was named most valuable player by his teammates Wednesday. Cornerback Tye Hill and safety Corey Chavous also were honored with 2006 team awards.
Jackson received the Daniel F. Reeves Memorial Award after rushing 1,386 yards. That's the most since the Rams' Jerome Bettis rushed for 1,429 yards in 1993.
Hill was named rookie of the year, while Chavous took home the Spirit of the Game Award, given for sportsmanship, work ethic, and commitment to teammates.
Jackson also earned his first Pro Bowl berth this season and leads the Rams with 88 receptions.
He said recognition from his team is just as important.
"It means a lot because your peers, your teammates, picked you," Jackson said.
Hill has 39 tackles.
In the season opener, he made his first interception and became the first Rams rookie to do so in his NFL debut since Keith Lyle in 1994.
